In a profession that demands precision, empathy, and endurance, it's time to care for the provider as well as the patient.
LADS Foundation Presents: Wellness in Practice offers a rejuvenating half-day of learning, reflection, and growth designed to strengthen the mind, body, and practice of every dental professional.
Gain evidence-based tools to prevent burnout, manage stress, and move with intention — ensuring a sustainable, fulfilling dental career.
Somewhere between dental school and today, a lot of us lost the thread. The daily grind of production goals, insurance battles, and staffing headaches can bury the reason we started this profession in the first place.
In this keynote, Dr. Eric Johnson, practicing dentist, practice owner, coach, and burnout researcher, draws on years of studying professional sustainability in dentistry to offer a practical path back. He'l' walk through three keys to reconnecting with our profession: Show Up, Change It Up, and Don't Give Up.
Attendees will leave with a clear, actionable framework, not just inspiration, but also for leading their practice and their career with renewed energy and purpose.
A Southern California dentist, educator, leadership coach, and U.S. Air Force Dental Corps veteran, Dr. Eric Johnson is dedicated to helping dentists build successful, sustainable careers. He is the founder of San Clemente Dental Studio and CEO of Leaders in Dentistry, a coaching and mentoring platform focused on leadership, communication, and professional growth.
Dr. Johnson earned his DDS from USC and a Doctorate in Leadership from the University of La Verne, where he conducted more than 3,000 hours of research on professional well-being and engagement among dentists. He currently serves as Wellness Committee Chairman for the Orange County Dental Society and has been recognized for his service to the profession.
Dentistry asks us to be clinically precise, emotionally present, and mentally focused, often while moving from one demanding patient encounter to the next. Over time, the accumulation of these daily demands can affect not only how we feel, but how we show up for our patients, our teams, and ourselves.
Drawing on her training in integrative medicine and her experience as a clinician and dental educator, Dr. Rana Al-Rasheed introduces The Regulated Clinician, a practical, evidence-informed framework for sustaining well-being and meaning in clinical practice. Through three principles:Regulate, Reframe, and Renew. She explores how clinicians can regulate their physiological state, reframe the impact and purpose of their work through a broader whole-person lens, and build brief recovery practices into the clinical day.
Attendees will leave with practical, evidence-informed strategies they can use in real time—not to eliminate the demands of dentistry, but to build the capacity to meet them with greater presence, curiosity, and resilience.
An integrative dentist, UCLA educator, and Fellow of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Rana Al Rasheed has pioneered mindfulness and breathwork education within the UCLA School of Dentistry, helping hundreds of providers strengthen resilience and emotional wellbeing.
Dentistry places unique physical demands on the body that can contribute to pain, fatigue, and career burnout over time. In this interactive session, participants will learn practical strategies to improve ergonomics, vary movement throughout the workday, and build the strength and resilience needed for a long, healthy career. Attendees will leave with realistic tools they can begin using immediately, both in and outside of work.
Dr. Elizabeth Komet, DPT, CSCS, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of Move Physical Therapy, a concierge rehab and wellness practice in Los Angeles. She specializes in helping dental professionals prevent injury and sustain physical longevity through movement and evidence-based exercise.
